Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

Hello everybody,

Yesterday I cleaned the keyboard and I touch it while the computer was turning off and when I started it there was a message telling me I shoul insert a USB key to restart properly but I didnt do it and restarted the computer. Now I noticed that some of my keys are not working when I press them and more precisely I have a problem with a,s,d,f,j,k,l,ò,à so basically the middle row... I tryed to restart the pc and everything but its not working...luckily my hp is touch so I can write with the touch keyboard but I still I would love to solve the problem!

Thank you

Re-installing the keyboard driver should remove any blocks.

This looks like a hardware issue. Please Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

Thanks!

Hi @helloitsme1

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

To better assist you -

1) How did you try cleaning it? Did you use some sort or cleaner or manually disconnected the keyboard from the computer?

2) What's the exact model name of the computer? Click here for steps on finding the information we need. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

While you respond to that, try these steps -

1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.
3) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.
4) Plug-in the Adapter.
5) Try to turn on the computer.

If the issue still persists, try re-installing the keyboard driver -

1) In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
2) Double-click Keyboards.
3) Right click on the keyboard drivers and click on uninstall.
4) Restart the computer.

Let me know how that goes.

So my notebook is a HP spectre x360 13-4003nl and has the keyboard connected to the screen so no unplug possible.

I cleaned it with a paper towel and some ethanol (which I tough was the best since it evaporates very quickly) .

I actually tried to do the reset keeping the power button and the mute button pressed (it was said like this for my model) and I also updated the bios and disinstalled the keyboard and reinstalled but unluckily nothing worked!

I was was thinking isn’t it possible that while cleaning it before it was completely shout down I might have activated some kind of key block? Because the stuck keys are really on a row in the center in a pattern so asdf not working gh yes and jklò and enter again not!

Thank you for the help!

And I also tried an external keyboard, and with the external keyboard the keys are working so it really make me think of a kind of block!
