My internal display keeps flickering, not the external one, and everything works fine. I believe it is a hardware issue. Does anyone know where I can get it fixed and how much it will cost? The machine is more than five years old. Do you think it is better to get a new pc?

Hello @TSW_MM
Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.
In the simplest case the internal display cable behind the screen is no longer seated correctly. It has come loose slightly. |
Recommendation and solution
In your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- [Always recommended] Thermal paste for CPU GPU and bridges should be renewed
- [Always recommended] The function of the fan(s) must be checked
- The internal display cable that goes from motherboard to screen has to be checked or replaced
- The screen has to checked or replaced
- Short circuit test
- General cleaning ...
If you can't do that, you should have it serviced by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.
Good luck

Hi, Ub6424,
Thanks for your prompt and detailed reply. The machine went through a swollen battery repair a few months ago. Do you think the flickering screen issue is due to the battery repair not seating the display correctly? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks again.

Hello @TSW_MM
<Battery replacement procedure> and <display flickering> are independent.
Flickering is a known problem of the display connector behind the screen loosening due to the up and down movement of the screen as there is a display cable inside that moves along.
Good luck
