Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!

I have an HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 14t-ea000 CTO.

I also have been using the keyboard shortcut Win + Ctrl + shift + B  to wake up the display, and it works effectively--albeit inconvenient and irritating.

Today I installed the Intel driver support assistant to run theIntel® Arc™ A & Iris® Xe Graphics Windows* update. The driver is now updated to the Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics Driver 31.0.101.5522 (released 5/12/2024).

Success! The display now wakes up automatically after sleep, and everything else appears to be working normally.

It is disappointing, however, that the HP Support assistant does not provide driver support for Windows 11 versions newer than 21H2 (64bit). That version was replaced on my computer nearly a year ago, and has since been superseded by 23H2.

Nice to know. I was frightened off by warnings of side effects of using the INTEL approach.

I am typically a late adopter and am holding fast with windows 10.   I was having other troubles including corrupted user profiles, and "lost" Win 11 compatibility.  My decision was to reload Win-10 and then go through the system/software update process on a clean system, especially a clean Registry that had not been subject to several years worth multiple installs/uninstalls/updates/revisions.   It was not fun doing this.  At the end of the day,  the "Spectre 360 Screen stays black after sleep" was immediately solved as well as all other improper system behaviors.

Why HP sucks so bad? I hate you.

All of a sudden I have this new awful problem. Why, why for God's sake?

I always treated this laptop the best possible way, without carrying it around much (making its portable nature mostly pointless) and I had problems after problems. The screen broke TWICE. This because one of the tiny rubber spacer near the keyboard collapsed  making the screen lean on the metal body of the PC with the result of cracking. After sending it to the assistance and paying 400euros for the screen, it broke again, but this time I was covered, fortunately. Still I had to send it AGAIN to the assistance. This thing spent more time in the hands of technicians then in mine.

Now the rubber thing collapsed again and I have no intention in sending again this wreck to HP. Never more.

Then, after few months without using it, I open it up and the screen doesn't turn on FOR NO REASON.

I hate you.

Have a nice evening.
