Hello, I upgraded my HP Spectre X360 laptop from windows 10 to windows 11 and the upgrade was fine and not errors. After upgrade the screen started flickering on the laptop screen while it is fine if I use external monitor or RDP.

I tried to search if there any Driver update is needed, but I noticed that HP saying only windows 10 is available on the support website. Does windows 11 not supported for this machine ? what is the fix for this issue ?

Can anyone help please ??

Hi @HayderKK,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you upgraded your HP Spectre X360 laptop from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and you're experiencing screen flickering issues on the laptop's built-in display, it could be due to several factors, including driver compatibility issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows 11 installation is up to date. Microsoft often releases updates that include bug fixes and driver updates. Go to "Settings" > "Windows Update" and click "Check for updates."
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Even if HP's official website doesn't list Windows 11 drivers for your laptop, you can try updating your graphics drivers to the latest version directly from the manufacturer's website. Visit the website of the company that manufactured your laptop's graphics card (usually Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD) and download the latest drivers for Windows 11.
  • HP Support Assistant: Use HP's Support Assistant application to check for updates and drivers specifically designed for your HP Spectre X360 model. Sometimes, these tools can provide updates that are not listed on the website.
  • Compatibility Mode: Try running your older drivers or software in compatibility mode. Right-click on the application or driver installer, go to "Properties," and under the "Compatibility" tab, enable "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows 10.
  • Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates: Sometimes, a BIOS or UEFI update can resolve hardware-related issues. Check HP's website for BIOS/UEFI updates compatible with Windows 11 for your specific laptop model.
  • Rollback to Windows 10: If the flickering issue persists and there are no compatible drivers available, you might consider rolling back to Windows 10. This is a last resort option, as Windows 11 offers many new features and improvements, but it can be a temporary solution until better driver support is available.

Remember that Windows 11 is relatively new, and driver support might not be as extensive as it is for Windows 10 initially. Over time, more drivers and updates should become available to address compatibility issues like screen flickering.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

This is a problem with the Intel Iris graphics driver.  I had this problem anytime I used the trackpad or external mouse.  Go to intel.com, download the Intel app that finds the latest drivers for you.  Select the latest graphics driver and this problem will go away.  I just went through it.

Not sure if HP Support is aware of this.  Don't accept going to Device Manager, selecting driver updates or HP Support Assistant.  Neither seem to find the latest Intel driver

This finally seems to have solved my screen blacking out when mousing over links. I was tired of rolling back my driver every day or so. Getting the new driver from Intel has solved it for a week now.

Not sure what else you can do. This was the update it gave me (still working) but maybe you already have it.
