Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended
Spectre x360 Convertible 15-ch0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I opened my Spectre today, and now the screen is completely unusable. It's flashing and moving the screen up and down in large horizontal lines. Sometimes, it's just black with random horizontal lines flashing across it. It was not stepped on or hit in any way (that I know of) and is always transported in the leather sleeve it came with. I need this fixed immediately if anyone has any advice.

The computer is still functioning. When I plug the computer into an HDMI cord attached to an external monitor, the computer is working perfectly, which I assume could mean that the screen is broken and is not an internal issue elsewhere, but I could be wrong.

Update: the screen is now completely black with random white horizontal lines flashing randomly.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. As you've checked the display on an external monitor which works fine, hence that would confirm a hardware failure.

I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:  www.hp.com/contacthp/
