HP Spectre x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-eu0000 (7K633AV)

I use a docking station w/ my Spectre x360 which includes a larger monitor.  I have the Display feature set to "PC screen only".  However, I often find that the setting has changed to one of the other settings (e.g., "Extend").   I'm not sure how this is happening (e.g., I'm not changing the setting using the F1 key).  Is there a way to prevent this?  Thanks.

Hi @jmarkp,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding extend screen display feature!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Disable Automatic Display Switching

Windows can sometimes automatically adjust display settings when it detects a new monitor. To prevent this:

Open Display Settings

  • Press Win + P and select PC Screen Only.
  • OR Right-click on the desktop → Select Display settings.

Change Multiple Displays Setting

  • Scroll down to Multiple displays.
  • Select Show only on 1 (or the correct monitor).

Save the Configuration

  • Click Apply and Keep changes.

Disable Auto-Detect for External Displays

If your Spectre automatically detects external monitors and switches modes, you can disable this feature:

Go to Device Manager

  • Right-click the Start Menu → Device Manager.

Expand Display Adapters

  • Right-click your graphics driver (Intel or NVIDIA).
  • Select Properties → Go to the Power Management tab.

Disable Power-Saving Detection

  • Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
  • Click OK.

Try these steps and let me know if the issue persists! 😊

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
