Hello,
So I bought a new HP Pavilion x360 convertible Laptop 14-dy000 (23S36AV) a few days ago, and it comes with a stylus pen that is rechargeable, the pen has 2 buttons only, I charged it fully for 2 hours, but it just doesnt work, the buttons on the pen dont work, and the touch screen doesnt respond when I touch it with the Pen, it only responds if I touch with my finger, I tried everything and tried to search for a solution but there is no answer at all.

Hi @Anfaljanahi,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your new stylus pen not working as expected. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check Compatibility
Ensure that the stylus pen is compatible with your HP Pavilion x360 model. Some stylus pens are designed for specific devices or require specific drivers.
2. Verify Pen Settings
Go to Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink. Make sure the settings for the pen are configured correctly. Sometimes, adjusting these settings can help.
3. Update Drivers
- Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for any updates.
- HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant to check for any specific driver updates for your device.
- Device Manager: Go to Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu), find the pen or touch input devices, right-click, and choose Update driver.
4. Restart the Laptop
Sometimes a simple restart can resolve issues with hardware not functioning correctly.
5. Check Pen Battery
Even though you charged the pen, double-check that the battery is functioning. Sometimes, the charging indicator might show that the pen is fully charged when it's not.
6. Test the Pen on Another Device
If possible, try using the stylus pen on another compatible device to see if it works there. This will help determine if the issue is with the pen itself or the laptop.
7. Check for Software or Firmware Updates
HP might have released updates or patches that address issues with the stylus pen. Check HP’s website or use HP Support Assistant for updates.
8. Re-pair or Reset the Pen
If the pen is paired via Bluetooth, try unpairing and re-pairing it:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
- Find the stylus pen in the list, select it, and click Remove device.
- Re-pair the pen following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Refer to this document: HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible PC 14-dy0000 User manual HP PCs - Touch screen stylus pen is inaccurate or stops working
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
