Hi. I came back to this thread once again to ask you something about the graphics driver. Recently, this laptop has been experiencing recurring blue screens with the error shwoing sgfxk64.sys as the one causing it. I just wanted to ask if the driver you suggested to me is related to the blue screen crashes I've been encountering lately.

Hi:

Unfortunately, that I do not know.

A quick search of the file error indicates it is a graphics error of some kind, but they all seem to refer to a SMSC Graphics Adapter driver error.

Never heard of such a thing.  Your notebook has the AMD/Intel switchable graphics.

OK Sir. Anyways, thanks for the quick reply. Have a good day.

You're very welcome.

Sorry I wasn't able to help you with that one.

You have a great day too!

Hey Mr. Paul. I'm really sorry for bothering you over again, but I'm sure the BSOD I'm having right now is somewhat related to the graphics driver installer because after its installation, it would go straight into blue screen - a STOP error code 116, and the system file its pointing to is atikmpag.sys. I tried some solutions I found on other forums, including expanding the system file via Command Prompt and doing a clean install of graphics driver. I came back to this thread once again and I want to ask if you have any suggestions you could offer or maybe I need to post another thread that is related to my problem. Thanks.

Hi:

I suggest you start a new thread because the driver I gave you back when is the only one that I know of that will work with your notebook.

I believe the one on the support page for your notebook doesn't work for some reason, though you can try it again and see what happens.

You may have to resort to backing up your files and clean installing W7 all over again.

I already downloaded the graphics driver from the support page, but I don't know why the installer wouldn't automatically start. Anyways, I'll go make another thread related to my problem. Thank you sir for the quick response, you are really great.

Hi. I reformatted my laptop again and as usual, we need to find drivers for my laptop. Unfortunately, after installing the graphics driver for my system, BSODs appeared after restarting and BlueScreenView points to atikmpag.sys. I tried some solutions including a clean reinstallation of AMD HD Graphics Driver, and using File Expansion Utility on the system file, but neither worked. I need some suggestions on how can I fix this. Thanks in advance.

Last question, wouldn't it be really possible if I used the graphics driver from AMD? The other forums told me that the driver that I was installing is too outdated. That would be my problem for now. I read details about the driver from the support page and it tells me that it was the same driver you gave to me, both tells that it is sp58894.exe.

Is it not allowed to mix the two graphics drivers available on my laptop's support page?

The driver directly from AMD might install the AMD graphics adapter but it kills the Intel one from working.

The W7 driver on your notebook's support page is a different file number than the one I posted.

This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode.

File name: sp61715.exe
