Since the May 2020 Windows 10 version 2004 update, my system became very erratic and I've identified the problem as being related to the device drivers for the touch pad and touch screen. My workaround has been to disable all devices related to the touch pad, touch screen and pen. I'm using an HP Spectre wireless mouse in lieu of the touch pad.

 

So far, HP Support has failed to update most of the software and device drivers required for Windows 10 v2004. A few HP software components have been installed recently through Windows Update, but they haven't resolved the issues related to the touch pad.

 

One of the devices that seems to cause the most problems is the Synaptics TPFHID Device. Presently, I have this device disabled in Device Manager, but if I enable the device, the mouse cursor immediately becomes unstable and erratic, and  behaves as if infected with a very malicious virus.

 

The installed device driver for the Synaptics TPFHID is Synaptics 19.5.35.54, dated 16-Mar-20. This device driver needs to be updated for Windows 10 v2004.

 

In the meantime, is there source for a compatible device driver to resolve this issue?

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the touchpad after upgrading Windows to 2004 version.

 

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

 

As you have mentioned, I see that the touchpad driver for Windows version 2004 is not available from HP yet, and once is it released should be available on the HP support page.

 

Meanwhile, I recommend you install the Microsoft precision driver for the touchpad and check if it helps.

Hi, Where do I find the download for the Microsoft Precision Driver for Touch Pad?

 

If I install this driver, won't the system attempt to revert back to the HP OEM device driver?

 

Don't you think HP Support should have had updated HP OEM software and device drivers for Windows 10 version 2004 posted on the HP Support page by now?

 

How long is it going to take for HP Support to provide support for the latest version of Windows 10, v2004?

I understand your concerns.

 

Please perform the below steps and check.

 

1) Right click on the start or Windows icon and open the "Device Manager". 

2) Expand the "Mice and other pointing devices". 

3) Right click TouchPad and then click on uninstall and restart the computer.  

 

Also, update the windows update.

 

Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
