Hi, I've read many posts on this subject but haven't found anything similar to my situation.
I installed Win 10 and chose the obliterate everything option because I wanted to start anew. Everything went well and the touch pad works EXCEPT the advanced features such as scrolling.
When you look at the Control Panel --> Programs and Features, the Synaptics Software Icon is missing. (In Win 8.1, I could open a Synapics program and adjust the TouchPad.)
If I go to the Device Manager, the Snyaptics HID driver is there and updated per HP support Assistant. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling, but no change (strangely, the touchpad worked with the driver uninstaled).
I checked the Registry, but there are very few Synaptics entries (3 or 4) leading me to think the Synaptics Touchpad program is missing.
The Synaptics website does not offer any downloads that HP doesn't offer.
I thought I would be able to download the proper program, but maybe I was mistaken. I use a mouse, so this fix isn't critical, but it would be nice to fix it.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Larry

Hi @larryfalk,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Stream 11 Notebook and issues with the Mouse not working correctly.
Some say you could restore the BIOS to factory defaults help with this. Here is a document that shows you how to restore BIOS factory default settings. That way it will look at the Hardware installed on the Notebook.
Once you have done this, restart the Notebook and make your changes to the Mouse settings.
Please let me know how this goes.

I have the same problem with Win7 and Win10 on my Elitebook 820 G3.
Basically, the Synaptics configuration panel disappeared, and 2-finger scrolling using the Synaptics touchpad has erratic "bounce" when reaching the top or bottom of a document.
In its place is a button that links to the Microsoft Mouse and Touchpad app. Uninstalling that and reinstalling the Synaptics app didn't fix the problem, however.
