HP Executive Tablet Pen R2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The pen came with the notebook.  I have 5 of these.  I have only opened 2 so far, but the pen does not work on either one.  I have followed online suggestions.  I updated the graphics card first by Microsoft.  When that didn't work I installed the driver from HP.  The unit has the latest BIOS dated 5-8-2017.  The odd thing about that is the BIOS at HP is one from Oct 2016.  The HP site does not have this later BIOS version.  I tried installing a pen wacom pen driver I saw posted, but it says the notebook is not supported.  I went into the calibration in Control Panel.  It says to touch the screen or the cross-hairs displayed, but no response.  I tried different batteries.  I verified the battery orientation.  The only documentation on this pen is how to install the battery and then it just says to press the pen against the screen to activate.  There is no sycn button on the pen like other pens I've used from HP.  Also the tip on this pen is very hard-almost afraid it will scratch the screen, but so far it hasn't.  I'm assuming the pen is supposed to work with this unit since it came packaged with it.  The touch screen works fine using your finger.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A co-worker figured it out.  The pen only works if the unit is in tablet mode and in the tablet position.  If it is positioned like a laptop (using the keyboard) then the pen does not work.
