Hi @Lar247,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your touchpad might be too sensitive or misconfigured. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Check Touchpad Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
  • Adjust the touchpad sensitivity and palm rejection settings. Try setting the sensitivity to a lower level and see if it helps.

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager (right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager).
  • Locate Mice and other pointing devices and find your touchpad device.
  • Right-click on it and choose Update driver to see if there’s an updated driver available.
  • If updating doesn’t help, you can also try uninstalling the driver and then restarting your laptop to reinstall it automatically.

Check for Touchpad Software:

  • Some HP laptops come with additional touchpad software (like Synaptics or ELAN). Open this software and check for settings related to gestures and sensitivity.

Disable Gestures Temporarily:

  • In the touchpad settings, try disabling specific gestures like "Tap to click" or "Two-finger scrolling" to see if it resolves the issue.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security and make sure your Windows is up to date.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Power off your laptop, unplug it from any power source, and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds. Then, restart your laptop and see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
