Hi @paullalande69, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your new HP 17-inch laptop is not outputting a signal correctly through the Orei splitter/extender, while another HP laptop with the same setup works fine. Let's troubleshoot:

Check Display Output Settings

  • Press Win + P and select Duplicate or Extend to see if the laptop detects the external display.
  • Go to Settings > System > Display and check if the external monitor is detected.

Try a Direct Connection

  • Connect the laptop directly to a monitor/TV without the Orei device to verify if the HDMI/DisplayPort is working.

Check Resolution & Refresh Rate

  • Some splitters/extenders support specific resolutions and refresh rates.
    • Go to Display settings > Advanced display settings and ensure the resolution is compatible with your Orei device.
    • Try lowering the resolution and refresh rate to 1080p @ 60Hz.

Update Graphics Drivers

  • Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters, right-click your GPU, and Update driver.
  • Download the latest drivers from HP Support or Intel/NVIDIA/AMD depending on your GPU.

Test Different HDMI Cables/Ports

  • Swap the HDMI cable to rule out a faulty cable.
  • Try a different HDMI port if available.

Power Cycle the Devices

  • Turn off the laptop, Orei splitter, and monitor.
  • Unplug all devices, wait 5 minutes, then reconnect everything.

Check for HDCP or EDID Issues

  • Some extenders don't support HDCP (copy protection).
  • If your laptop has an option to disable HDCP in the GPU settings, try turning it off.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
