Spectre x360 15 CH012TX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hi everyone, I just got my machine (Kaby Lake G with Vega )last week and this machine is awesome except for one thing. The autorotation. Mine always broke after a few hours of usage (no longer rotating, auto rotate button greyed). After a few days with it, here are what I found out.
  1. The sensors work just fine (checked through sensor apps from Windows Store).
  2. To fix this, I need to reflash the bios or hold the power button for 10 seconds when the device is off. It fixed it for a few hours before the problem comes back, always.
  3. The cause of the problem is `"Intel virtual button driver". Uninstalling this allows device rotation once more. However, the keyboard and touchpad are not disabled on tent mode.
  4. I tried almost everything, fresh reset, fresh Windows install (haven't tried Windows 10 1709), updating to the newest Windows, registry fix, but no fix.
  5. Post a comment on HP support website where someone else has the same problem and no solution. Support didn't even reply to the first poster (posted 2 months ago).
  6. This seems a common problem for Spectre 2 in 1, but the fix seems random.
  7. Now I am disabling Intel virtual button driver, using Windows 10 1803, and using KeyStroke to disable my keyboard manually if I want to use it as a gigantic tablet.
Is there anyone else here who suffers from the same problem? This seems like a simple fix for the driver guy at Intel and HP, but until now there is no fix at all. If yes, how do you fix it?
Thank you.

Mine was because a program that I used modified the EC (embedded controller) values (the program was NBFC) If you have such programs, probably it will cause the device to malfunction. I didn't use the program anymore, thus, mine is fixed now.
