Hi @tejas40,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Pavilion laptop has a broken display corner while running Windows 11. Let’s go through a few checks to understand the damage and what can safely be done next.

Confirm the type of damage
Check whether the issue is physical glass damage (crack, chipped corner) or a display issue (black spot, lines, flickering).
Physical cracks are hardware-related and not caused by Windows or drivers.

Check if the display panel itself is affected
Power on the laptop and observe the screen.
If the image is clear except near the corner, the LCD may still be functional; spreading dark spots or lines indicate panel damage.

Test with an external monitor
Connect the laptop to an external display using HDMI or USB-C.
If the external display works normally, the graphics card and Windows 11 are fine.

Inspect the bezel and hinge area
Look closely at the broken corner to see if the plastic bezel is cracked or if the LCD glass underneath is exposed.
Avoid pressing the area, as this can cause the crack to spread.

Check for touch functionality issues (if touchscreen model)
If your Pavilion has a touchscreen, test touch input near the damaged corner.
Unresponsive or erratic touch usually means the digitizer is damaged.

Avoid DIY screen pressure or glue
Do not use glue, tape, or pressure to “hold” the corner together.
This can permanently damage the LCD layers and worsen the break.

Protect the screen temporarily
Until repaired, keep the lid partially open when carrying the laptop.
Avoid closing it tightly, as pressure can expand the crack.

Understand repair implications
A cracked display corner requires screen replacement, not a software fix.
Windows 11 settings, drivers, or updates cannot resolve physical panel damage.

Identify the exact Pavilion model
Check the model number on the bottom of the laptop (for example, Pavilion 14-ec, 15-eg, etc.).
Screen size, resolution, and touch/non-touch determine the correct replacement panel.

Data safety reassurance
Your files, Windows installation, and data are not affected by screen damage.
You can safely back up data using an external monitor if needed.

I hope this helps.
