Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!

Hp pavillion 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I changed the laptop because the first one I had a little issue with it. Then I noticed that when I pressed the FN key and F6 to mute the sound, the orange light didnt turn on.

I know it's not a big deal and it's still mute the sound ,but the fact that the light disappeared keeps bothering me.

The Caps lock is fine tho.

@Rezilia,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that mute light is not turning on.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

What is the exact model for your computer?

Is there a led for the mute light? (As all the models do not have a light)

Meanwhile, I recommend you download install HP support assistant from the below link and install all the updates and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

Download link: https://www8.hp.com/in/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_in/en/any/psg/p...

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

  6. Perform any other update management actions as needed.

    • Postpone an update: Click Remind me, and then select a time preference.

    • Delete an available update: Click the Delete icon  to remove the update from the list and record it in the action log.

    • Review updates status: Click Action log below the list to view installed, postponed, or deleted updates.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

It's the Pavilion that comes with an Amd Ryzen7 3750H and a Gtx1660ti.

It has a light bulb under the mute key, because I can see the circle dot that similar to Caps key. Also, the laptop I'm using right now is the the second one, the first has some issue so I brought it back to the shop and change it to a new one but the same model.

That's why I know it has the orange light when you press Fn and mute key to mute the sound, but after I changed to the second laptop the ligjt doesn't turn on.

I have updated everything, Hp assistant and window 10. Before posting this I went to check but there's no update left.
