Hi @Keira11,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the power button on your HP DeskJet 2700 is flashing and the printer shows as "busy" without printing, it usually indicates a problem with the printer's communication, a stuck print job, or an internal error. Here are steps to troubleshoot and fix this issue:
1. Cancel Print Jobs
- Clear print queue: On your computer, go to Devices and Printers, find your printer, right-click it, and select See what's printing. Cancel any pending print jobs.
- Restart printer: Turn the printer off, unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and power it on.
2. Check for Paper Jams
- Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions in the paper path or the print head area. Gently remove any stuck paper.
3. Reset Printer
- Perform a hard reset on the printer by turning it off, unplugging it from the power source for about a minute, and then plugging it back in and powering it on.
4. Check the Printer's Display
- If your printer has a display or indicator lights, look for any error messages or flashing lights that could indicate a specific issue (such as low ink, paper jams, etc.).
5. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Sometimes, outdated or corrupt drivers can cause communication issues. Try updating the printer drivers via the HP Smart app or reinstalling them from the HP website.
6. Check Connection
- Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your network (Wi-Fi or USB) and that there are no connection issues.
7. Printer Firmware Update Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer using the HP Smart app or the HP website.
