32" HP Pavilion monitor
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My the USB ports on the back of 32" HP Pavilion monitor no longer work and devices attached to these port do not connect to the computer tower anymore. Attempted to update drivers but nothing works. Using HP Omen desktop.

@daddykins

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand the USB ports on your HP Monitor aren't working anymore,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

I'm curious to know what you've been using it for?

Also, did you try with alternate devices to check if they work? or if the device that isn't working on the monitor, is that working elsewhere?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

Open the OSD and select Power Control > USB Power > Toggle On/Off to check if that makes a difference.

If the issue persists, update the monitor drivers: https://hp.care/2EwKhRq

If none of the above worked, try this:

  1. Turn off the monitor.
  2. The power light on the monitor should be off. Leave the computer turned on.
  3. Unplug the power cord.

  4. Wait 5 seconds.

  5. Plug in the power cord.

  6. Press the power button on the monitor to turn on the monitor.

    One of two things happens:

    • The image from the computer displays on the monitor and you can use the computer again. This indicates that the monitor was unable to detect that the computer had awakened from suspend mode. Turn the monitor off when it is not being used or disable suspend mode on the computer. For some computers, updating the BIOS can correct these types of suspend problems.

      OR

    • The power light on the monitor comes on but the screen displays one of the messages again. The monitor is not receiving a video signal from the computer that it can detect and use. Continue using these steps.

  7. If the computer is on, wait until the hard drive activity light on the computer is not lit and then press and hold the Power button on the computer case until the computer turns off.

  8. If the monitor has a factory reset or restore option, set it. Press the Menu button on the front panel and select Factory Reset.

  9. Wait 5 seconds and then turn on the computer by pressing the Power button again.

If the issue persists, Contact HP to have the monitor repaired or replaced:

I randomly pressed the two rear buttons on the back of the  HP monitor, then suddenly something clicked and my devices automatically appeared again and explorer folder popped open. Hopefully, this will be the end of the issue. I don't know why this happened to deactivate this. Thanks for responding.

Perfect, I am really glad to hear that!

My usb ports on the pavilion 32" have never worked.  Nothing i plug in there shows up.  I have enabled them in the OSD.  The monitor is connected hdmi to the Pavilion computer.  Is there a separate cable that must be used to enable the USBs?  Would be good to have a couple extra.
