There is no auto rotate option and tablet mode even though I have an HP Pavilion x360 - 14-cd0087tu in 2 in-1 convertible laptop. When I have Windows 10 the auto rotates, and tablet mode is there but after updating the Windows to Windows 11 there is no auto rotate and tablet mode. I have used many methods like changing the value of auto rotate to 1 in the registry editor.

Hi @Vivek_Chauhan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with auto-rotation and tablet mode after updating to Windows 11 on your HP Pavilion x360 convertible laptop, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

Check for Updates: Make sure that your Windows 11 installation is up to date. Microsoft frequently releases updates that may address bugs and improve system functionality.

Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the HP support website or use the Windows Update feature to check for the latest graphics driver updates.

Tablet Mode Settings: Check the Tablet Mode settings to ensure they are configured correctly.

  • Open the Settings app (Win + I).
  • Go to "System" and then "Tablet."
  • Make sure the "When I sign in" and "When this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off" options are set as per your preference.

Rotation Lock: Ensure that Rotation Lock is turned off. You can find this option in the Quick Settings menu or by going to Settings > System > Display.

Registry Editor: Since you've already tried modifying the registry, it's worth checking again. Be cautious when editing the registry, and create a backup before making any changes.

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog, type regedit, and press Enter.
  • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation.
  • Set the value of Enable to 1.
  • Restart your computer.

HP Support Assistant: HP laptops often come with the HP Support Assistant, a tool that helps keep your system updated and offers troubleshooting solutions. Check for updates or use the assistant to diagnose and fix issues.

BIOS/UEFI Update: Check if there is a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, firmware updates can address hardware-related issues.

Reset Tablet Mode Settings: In the Settings app, go to System > Display > Reset all settings under the Multiple displays section.

Rollback to Windows 10: If all else fails and the issues persist, consider rolling back to Windows 10. You can do this within 10 days of upgrading to Windows 11. Go to Settings > System > Recovery, and under "Go back to Windows 10," click "Get started."

Always make sure to back up your important data before attempting major changes or updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
