Hi, currently have a very thin green line going horizontally across the screen of my laptop and not too sure why, it was fine literally 20 minutes ago but then I closed the lid for a little while and now this line has suddenly appeared? Only had the laptop a little over a year now, Can someone help me please? Thanks!

Quick update: I have just opened up my browser and now the line has gone, but it's still there whenever I minimize the browser, still confused!
2nd update: my bad its still there, seems to disappear when the screen is fully white

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the display issue.
I'd suggest you check for the flickering by connecting the computer to an external display. Also, check for it in the BIOS -
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F10 once for BIOS.
If there's no flickering in BIOS or external monitor, try these steps -
Step 1 Hard Reset -
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.
3) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.
4) Plug-in the Adapter.
5) Try to turn on the computer.
Step 2 Re-install the display driver -
1) In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.
2) In Device Manager, expand Display Adapter.
3) Right-click on the Display Adapter, and then select Uninstall device > Delete the driver software for this device check box > Uninstall.
4) Restart the computer.
Also, try updating the computer -
Step 3 Windows Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Step 4 HP Support Assistant Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hey, thanks so much for your help, I've tried starting up the laptop in BIOS and the line still appears, I've installed the newest drivers also but the line is still there, it's not there when I use an external display so I'm guessing it's a problem with the screen itself 😞
Thank you for the well informed reply though I really appreciate it

Appreciate you trying those steps. As the line appears on the BIOS screen this is a hardware issue. I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
