I am using the app SketchBook to do drawings using the active stylus hp pen that the notebook came with. The first time I used the pen it worked fine but now when I rest my hand on the screen it registersis and begins drawing with my hand. How can I stop this?

The resting palm issue is likely NOT result of your brand of computer.
From what I have read on the Sketchbook forum, the problem also exists on other PC platforms.
The suggested workaround is to try the Windows 10 Tablet version of the software.
SketchBook Desktop version should have an option to disable hand/mouse drawing..
Remember: A workaround is a suggested method to get closer to what you want -- it is not to be confused with a solution.
If you have not done so, I suggest you check with the Sketchbook forum and / or the software support people.
