HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ee1000 (2E2K7AV)

Having issues with my touch screen. It suddenly stopped working, as well as my tablet mode, which I am assuming has something to do with the touch screen no longer working. I went into drives, and it appears as though maybe my computer somehow deleted the drive. How do I restore a HID drive?

Hi @AshBerry24,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP ENVY x360 15-ee1000 suddenly loses touchscreen and tablet mode functionality, especially when it seems like the HID-compliant touchscreen driver has vanished. Let’s walk through the steps to restore your touchscreen and get tablet mode working again.

Step-by-Step: Restore HID-Compliant Touchscreen Driver

1. Check Device Manager

Let’s confirm if the driver is missing or just hidden:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Human Interface Devices.
  • Look for an HID-compliant touch screen
    • If it’s missing, proceed to reinstall.
    • If it’s present but disabled, right-click and choose Enable.

2. Scan for Hardware Changes

Sometimes Windows can detect missing drivers automatically:

  • In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  • Wait a few seconds to see if the touchscreen reappears.

3. Install HP Drivers Manually

Download the latest drivers for your model from HP’s official site: 👉 HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ee1000 | HP® Support

  • Select your Windows version.
  • Download and install:
    • Chipset drivers
    • Graphics drivers
    • HP System Event Utility
    • HP Quick Launch Buttons (if available)

These packages often include the HID drivers needed for touchscreen and tablet mode.

4. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

This tool can detect and fix hardware issues:

5. Check Tablet Mode Settings

Once the touchscreen is restored:

  • Go to Settings > System > Tablet.
  • Ensure Tablet mode is enabled or set to switch automatically when folded.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
