Hi @Ehampton,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the touchscreen on your new HP 14 inch Chromebook is not working, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Restart Your Chromebook

  1. Press and Hold Power Button: Press and hold the power button until the Chromebook turns off.
  2. Turn On the Chromebook: Press the power button again to turn it back on.

2. Check Touchscreen Settings

  1. Open Settings: Click on your account picture in the bottom-right corner, then click on the gear icon to open "Settings."
  2. Go to Device Settings: Click on "Device" in the left-hand menu.
  3. Check Touchscreen Settings: Look for any options related to the touchscreen. Ensure it is enabled and configured correctly.

3. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn Off Your Chromebook: Press and hold the power button until the Chromebook turns off.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset: Press and hold the Refresh (circular arrow) key and then tap the Power button. Hold the Refresh key until your Chromebook boots up.

4. Check for Chrome OS Updates

  1. Open Settings: Click on your account picture, then click on the gear icon to open "Settings."
  2. Go to About Chrome OS: Click on "About Chrome OS" on the left-hand menu.
  3. Check for Updates: Click "Check for updates." If updates are available, install them and then restart your Chromebook.

5. Check Touchscreen Hardware

  1. Inspect the Screen: Ensure there are no physical obstructions on the screen or any visible damage.Clean the Screen: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the touchscreen. Sometimes, dirt or debris can affect touch sensitivity.

6. Re-calibrate the Touchscreen

  1. Open Chrome Browser: Click on the Chrome icon in the taskbar to open the browser.Type Chrome://flags: In the address bar, type chrome://flags and press Enter.Search for Touchscreen Calibration: Use the search bar to find "Touchscreen calibration."
  2. Enable Calibration: Enable the calibration option, and then restart your Chromebook.

7. Factory Reset Your Chromebook

  1. Open Settings: Click on your account picture, then click on the gear icon to open "Settings."
  2. Go to Advanced: Scroll down and click on "Advanced."
  3. Reset Settings: Under "Reset settings," click on "Powerwash" and then "Restart."

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
