Hi @skister77,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If the HID-compliant touch screen driver is missing from the Device Manager and reinstalling drivers hasn't resolved the issue, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and restore the touch screen functionality on your HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000:

1. Enable Hidden Devices in Device Manager

  • Cause: Sometimes the HID-compliant touchscreen driver may be hidden in Device Manager.
  • Solution:
    1. Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
    2. Click on the View menu and select Show Hidden Devices.
    3. Look under Human Interface Devices for the HID-compliant touchscreen driver.
    4. If found, right-click and enable it. If it's disabled, enable it.

2. Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

  • Cause: Windows 11 may have issues recognizing the new hardware after replacing the keyboard.
  • Solution:
    1. Press Win + R, type msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic, and press Enter to open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.
    2. Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and fix hardware issues.

3. Install Windows Updates

  • Cause: Windows updates may include missing drivers or patches that could restore touchscreen functionality.
  • Solution:
    1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
    2. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
    3. Restart your laptop after the updates are installed.

4. Check BIOS Settings

  • Cause: The touchscreen functionality might be disabled in the BIOS settings.
  • Solution:
    1. Restart your laptop and press F10 (or the appropriate key for your model) to enter the BIOS setup.
    2. Look for options related to the touch screen in the BIOS (usually under Advanced or System Configuration settings).
    3. Ensure that the touch screen is enabled, then save and exit the BIOS.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @skister77,

Please find the next steps below.

5. Use HP's UEFI Diagnostics

  • Cause: The HP UEFI Diagnostics tool can help identify hardware issues, including problems with the touch screen.
  • Solution:
    1. Turn off your laptop and then turn it back on while pressing the Esc key repeatedly.
    2. Press F2 to enter the UEFI Diagnostics tool.
    3. Run a system test, focusing on the touchscreen functionality.

6. Reinstall the Touch Screen Driver Manually

  • Cause: If the driver is missing or corrupt, you may need to install it manually.
  • Solution:
    1. Go to Device Manager.
    2. Right-click on Human Interface Devices (or anywhere in the list) and select Scan for hardware changes.
    3. If the driver is still missing, try installing it manually:
      • Go to the HP Drivers and Downloads page and enter your laptop model.
      • Look for touch screen or HID drivers under Windows 10, as they might be compatible with Windows 11.
      • Download and install the drivers.

7. Perform a System Restore

  • Cause: If the issue began after replacing the keyboard, a system restore might revert the system settings to a state where the touch screen was working.
  • Solution:
    1. Press Win + S and type System Restore.
    2. Select Create a restore point > System Restore.
    3. Choose a restore point from before the issue began and follow the prompts to restore your system.

If none of the above solutions work, there may be a hardware issue or a deeper software conflict. Contact HP Phone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Thank you for your reply.  I tried all that and I even did a fresh install wiping everything.  I have done many windows updates and the one that said repair i was hoping it would fix. I have the original keyboard installed as the one I bought does not work for touch (per the seller)

Can you send me that driver?

Thanks,

Mark
