Recently went and caught up windows updates and my touch screen is no longer working. I have ran windows repairs, updated all other drivers and still no dice. I dont see the touch screen in device manager even when showing hidden items. Is the screen no longer supported? are there drivers for specifically the touchscreen available to download anywhere?

Hi @Jason262,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are facing issues with the touchscreen.

If your touch screen stopped working after a Windows update, here are some additional steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Re-enable Touch Screen in Device Manager:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Human Interface Devices section.
  • Look for HID-compliant touch screen.
  • Right-click it and select Enable device. If it is already enabled, try disabling and then re-enabling it.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Touch Screen Driver:

  • In the Device Manager, right-click HID-compliant touch screen and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the touch screen driver.

Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter:

  • Press Windows + R, type msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic, and press Enter.
  • Follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter and apply any recommended fixes.

Check for Optional Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click on View optional updates.
  • Install any available updates that might be relevant to hardware or drivers.

Roll Back the Recent Update:

  • If the issue started after a specific Windows update, consider rolling back the update.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click on View update history and then Uninstall updates.
  • Select the recent update and uninstall it.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If you have a system restore point from before the issue started, you can restore your system to that point.
  • Press Windows + R, type rstrui, and press Enter.
  • Follow the prompts to restore your system to a previous point.

Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for your laptop model (HP Notebook - 17-Ca0011ds).
  • Download and install any available BIOS/UEFI updates.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, there may be a deeper compatibility problem introduced by the recent Windows updates. In such cases, considering a clean install of Windows might be necessary.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
