hp pavilion x360 convertible 14m-dh0001dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14m-dh0001dx and my touchpad stopped working when I opened my laptop today. It was working last night, but when I opened it today the touchpad didn't work and there was no mouse on screen. When I looked at Device Manager it listed my touchpad driver as not working, so I uninstalled it in the hopes that it would reinstall when I restarted my laptop. That didn't work, and now the driver I need isn't available on the HP Support website, as it doesn't have the correct version of Windows for my device. HP Support only has up to Windows 10 v20H2 when my device is running v22H2. I even tried downloading and installing the touchpad drivers for the older versions of Windows, but they give me an error message that reads "This driver is not supported on this OS version (10.0.19045)". Is there any way to download the correct driver for my OS or fix the problem in some other way?

Hi @Schlemman,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14 touchpad stopped working after updating to Windows 10 v22H2 and the drivers available on HP's website are only for up to v20H2, there are still several steps you can take to try to resolve the issue.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Sometimes, Windows Update can find the appropriate driver for your hardware.

Use the Device Manager to Update Driver:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Right-click on your touchpad (might be listed under "Mice and other pointing devices" or "Human Interface Devices").
  • Select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software. Windows will try to find the latest driver for your device.

Try Windows Precision Touchpad Drivers:

  • Some HP devices can use Microsoft's Precision Touchpad drivers, which might be compatible with your device.
  • Open Device Manager > Right-click on the touchpad > Update Driver > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
  • If you see "HID-compliant touchpad" or "Microsoft USB Input Device" listed, try installing it.

Download Drivers via HP Support Assistant:

  • Install HP Support Assistant from HP's website.
  • Use it to scan your system and automatically download and install the correct drivers.

Reinstall Touchpad Drivers from Windows Update Catalog:

  • Visit the Microsoft Update Catalog.
  • Search for "Synaptics Touchpad" or "ELAN Touchpad" depending on your touchpad model.
  • Download the latest driver compatible with your system's architecture (x64 for 64-bit systems).
  • Install the driver manually.

Roll Back Windows Update:

  • If none of the above solutions work and the touchpad was functioning fine before the update, consider rolling back to a previous version of Windows.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Go back to the previous version of Windows 10.

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Esc during boot).
  • Ensure that the touchpad is enabled in BIOS. If it’s disabled, enable it and save the changes.

Use an External Mouse Temporarily:

  • While troubleshooting, you can connect an external USB mouse to your laptop for continued use.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
