I'm having an annoying issue with my touchpad for my HP Pavilion x360 Convertible laptop, it isn't responding at all (no clicking, no moving cursor). I've had this laptop for a little over a year and had this exact problem around half a year ago, but it went away without me knowing why. It recently popped up again this month, but I tried going to Device Manager to disable and enable the touchpad (1 to make it work. This method would only work if I disabled the touchpad and then pressed down on the touchpad for a bit and then enabled it. I don't think this method broke the touchpad (I used this method half a year ago and it still worked perfectly after the problem ended). I hope there are no internal problems (I don't see any external), so I hope I can find a solution here.
In device manager, the I2C HID Device has a yellow triangle next to it and my previously mentioned method isn't working anymore (of pressing down on the touchpad). When this error occurs, the touchpad option in my settings completely disappears.
Here are the methods I've tried so far:
- Restarting my laptop
- Updating my laptop
- Disabling and enabling the I2C HID Device
- Pressed F2 during the start-up of my laptop and running tests
- Tapping the corner of the touchpad two times
- Remaking an "Upperfilters" file
- Pressing down on touchpad
- Checking for cursor suppresion
- Updating drivers* (Windows says my drivers are up to date despite being from 2006)
Can anyone help me find a solution or a possible cause for this?

Hi @TayLamas
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
From what I have understood, you are not able to use your touchpad and you are facing the same issue you were facing earlier. Please be assured that I am here to help you with it.
May I know if you have made any changes to your system?
What happens when you use an external mouse?
Reinstall touchpad drivers and check
Open Device Manager. Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the device, then select Uninstall device. Select Uninstall and then restart your PC. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
I would also suggest you use the touchpad in safe mode and check if the issue persists. Here is a link.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
