My touchpad is not working. My computer is fully updated and I ran a diagnostics test but it said nothing was wrong with my laptop. The touchpad option is not showing up in settings and also under the device manager. In the device manager, if I unplug my USB mouse the "mice and other pointing devices" option disappears completely and there is no driver tab if I click on it for more info. I attempted to download http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71867.exe but it tells me that a newer version of Synaptic pointing device is still installed on my notebook and I should uninstall it from add or remove program yet I can't find it there, it's also not found in programs and features. I also tried to download SynMsiDApp but it wouldn't download saying an error occurred but didn't specify what. I don't know what to do, please help.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that the touchpad is not working correctly on the computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
When was the last time the touchpad was working fine?
What is the operating system you are using?
Meanwhile, I recommend you download and install HP support assistant and it will automatically download and install all the latest drivers available for your computer.
Here is how it is done.
