Hi @vishal14988.
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for explaining the issue — it sounds like your HP laptop’s touchpad freezes or stops working whenever audio plays, such as music, notifications, or error sounds. That’s unusual, but not unheard of. It could be due to a driver conflict. or even a BIOS or firmware bug.
Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot and fix it:
1. Update Audio and Touchpad Drivers
- Open Device Manager:
- Right-click the Start button > Device Manager
- Expand:
- Sound, video and game controllers → Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek, Intel, etc.) → Update driver
- Mice and other pointing devices → Right-click your touchpad → Update driver
2. Check for HP-Specific Driver Updates
- Go to: Official HP® Support
- Enter your laptop model number
- Download and install the latest:
- Audio drivers
- Touchpad drivers
- BIOS update (if available)
3. Disable Audio Enhancements
Sometimes audio enhancements interfere with system performance.
- Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar > Sounds
- Go to the Playback tab > Select your speaker > Properties
- Go to the Enhancements tab > Check Disable all enhancements
- Click Apply and OK
4. Check for Background Conflicts
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
- Check if CPU or memory usage spikes when audio plays
- If a specific process (like audiodg.exe) is using too much, it may be causing the freeze
5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then press F2 to enter diagnostics
- Run the Touchpad and Audio tests
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
