Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My mouse had been working on an off. Initially, it would stop working as I was using it, and the time it stopped working became longer and longer. At one point, the mouse stopped showing up upon turning on my computer and I decided to check Device Manager. My device manager shows that the touchpad is not connected via hardware, and I am unsure how to fix it. I have tried reinstalling, updating, and replacing drivers, but nothing seems to work. If it truly is a hardware issue, how do I go about fixing it?
