I'm looking to change the settings on my touchpad because somehow the search bar keeps randomly popping up when I'm typing and it seems like the touchpad is somehow causing that to happen. When I open the Touchpad settings, the "Gestures and Interaction" area is blank, so I cannot make any changes. I tried looking into the Drivers area on the HP website, but it does not list my OS (Windows 11) as an option, just Windows 10. I'm hesitant to make any changes to the drivers right now because I worry that it will not fix the problem and will only make it worse if I am unable to re-download the necessary drivers.

Hi @Stevenus,

Thank you for the response.

Please try the below steps:

Run Windows Update

Update your Windows 11 or Windows 10 computer using Windows Update.

For more information, see HP PCs - Updating drivers using Windows Update (Windows 11, 10).

In Windows, search for and open Check for updates.

If there are any available updates, they begin automatically.

Note:

To download and install optional updates, use the following instructions for your operating system:

In Windows 11, select Advanced options, select Optional updates, select the updates that you want to install, and then click Download & install.

In Windows 10, select View all optional updates, select the updates that you want to install, and then click Download and install.

After the updates install, restart your computer when prompted.

Reinstall driver manually

Open Device Manager and find Mice and other pointing devices.

Right-click your touchpad and uninstall the device.

Restart; Windows will reinstall the default driver.

If gestures are still missing, download the Windows 10 driver from HP’s site, it is compatible with Windows 11.

Test the touchpad in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI

Run Component Tests in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI to test the touchpad, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

Turn on the computer and immediately press esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu is displayed, press the f2 key.

On the main menu, click Component Tests.

To run the tests, click Mouse/Touchpad, select the test to run, and then click Run once. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the test.

Note:

Bluetooth devices are not currently supported.

Note:

Your Component Tests menu might be different, depending on the components installed on your computer.

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
