Hi @Sky1981

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the issue—when a touchpad suddenly stops responding, especially after an update, it can be incredibly disruptive.

Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to help restore functionality on your HP Pavilion x360 14-dy1000 running Windows 11.

1. Check Touchpad Settings

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touchpad.
  • Make sure the touchpad is enabled.
  • If it’s missing entirely, proceed to the next step.

2. Device Manager Check

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Human Interface Devices and Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Look for entries like I2C HID Device, Synaptics, or ELAN Touchpad.
  • If any show a warning icon or say “This device cannot start,” right-click and uninstall them.
  • Restart your laptop to let Windows attempt reinstallation.

3. Install the Latest Touchpad Driver

  • Visit the HP Pavilion x360 14-dy1000 driver page.
  • Select Windows 11 as your OS.
  • Download and install the ELAN or Synaptics Touchpad Driver listed under Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices.
  • If the installer shows an OS compatibility error, try installing manually via Device Manager:
    • Right-click the device > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick > Choose the downloaded driver.

4. BIOS Update

  • On the same HP driver page, download the latest BIOS update.
  • Install it carefully and restart your system.
  • BIOS updates can resolve low-level hardware detection issues.

5. Run HP UEFI Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc, then F2 to enter diagnostics.
  • Run a Component Test > Touchpad to check hardware functionality.

6. Perform a Restart:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve unexpected issues. Restart your laptop and check if the touchpad functionality returns.

Let me know how far you get with these steps—I’ll help you dig deeper if needed.
