Hi there, I'm having some issues with my touch screen. A few months ago I broke the screen (cracked it), and as the touch sensors were sensing touch where there wasn't any and generally being a little annoying, I disabled the HID-compliant touchscreen driver in device manager.

Last week I decided to finally fix the screen and sent the laptop to a screen repairer. They repaired the screen but when they tried to test it, they found that the HID-compliant touchscreen driver was missing and there was an error with the ELAN EzTouchfilter (Code 10: This device cannot start. A request for the HID descriptor failed). Their advice was to do a factory reset on the laptop so gave it back to me to do that.

A few resets and restorations later, still no HID driver and no touchfilter. This is very frustrating as I was hoping to, and paid for it to, have it fixed and working.

Can I acquire the HID-compliant touchscreen driver anywhere? I've seen that the fix for a few similar problems is to send to HP to get the hardware fixed but I'd like to leave that for a last resort if possible.

Thank you.

@judealexander  How was the reset attempted, did you make use of the HP Recovery partition (F11) or did you use the HP recovery media?
If you don't have an HP Recovery media and have attempted reset using the windows troubleshooter or a retail copy of windows, you'll need to order a recovery media: Click here for steps Or you may also attempt to download the same using the steps on this link: click here

I used the Windows trouble-shooter to do both the resets, I'll give the F11 reset a go and let you know 😀
