Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I noticed a few weeks ago that the touchscreen stopped working on my laptop. I followed some of the guidance I found on the web and notice that I do not show any touchscreen drivers under Human interface devices. I am not sure how to proceed at this point.

I believe you have a Synaptics driver.  The latest one for your system is  Windows 10, v1802 which is old.

If that does not work then bring up the device manager and enable hidden devices.  Look for the touchscreen driver and see if it is Synaptics,.  Look for "elan" or sometimes "syna"

You should also bring up the event viewer and look under system and applications for errors.

I assume you ran the HP diagnostics.  Tap ESC (sometimes  F2) after powering on and run the touchscreen test.

If the touch screen test bios test fails the you have a hardware problem.

You can also check windows updates for "other drivers".  If you see a newer synaptics then use that.  Do  not update any of the "other drivers"  except synaptics,  especially not any BIOS updates.  You should set a restore point before doing any updates from Microsoft's "other drivers"

I did have "HID-compliant touch screen" under human interface but it was grayed out. I removed it and rebooted and it did not come back... I downloaded the synaptics driver and it came in under mice and other pointing devices. It says it device working but I still have no touch screen

Yea, if grayed out then cannot list drivers.  Were you able to run factory diagnostics to test the screen? This would be run before booting into windows.

Have you replaced your hard drive since you bought the system?  If not, then possibly the required drivers or even the old operating system, can be restored.

Make sure you have the update "HP Recovery Manager Update"

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-15-f200-notebook-pc-touch/model/12681364?sku=N5Y13UA

Then try to recover the drivers (not the OS)  There is a description of recovering the OS here

I did not see any dialog box about just getting the drivers so be careful what you select.
