Hello. I just purchased an HP 14-dq0052 laptop that has a USB-C port. I am trying to connect to my Dell monitor that has a Displayport, HDMI and VGA. I am already connecting USB-C to Displayport from my Macbook Air. But when I plugged in the USB-C to my laptop I get the "No DP Signal" message on my monitor. Any suggestions? I have done the Windows-P and chose Extend, and I have gone to System-->Display-->Multiple Display-->Detect and it says "We didn't find another display". Any suggestions?

Is your machine an HP 14-dq0052dx ? Its specs
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c08172988
It ONLY has 1 hopeless USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only-total 3), you can use
- Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
- Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

@Banhien
Yes my machine is the 14-dq0052dx.
So are you saying I CAN connect to an external monitor from my HDMI port? I originally purchased an HDMI/Displayport adapter and that didn't work. My monitor does have an HDMI port. Will it work if I go HDMI to HDMI?
Thanks for all your help so far!
