HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-ch1000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

I would like to use two external monitors with my PC, I don't know if this PC allows two multiple external monitors and I cannot find the information in the handbook.   Any information would be appreciated.

Hi @Ann9999,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To determine if your HP ENVY 17.3 Inch Laptop PC can support two external monitors, you'll need to check a few things.

  • Graphics Output: First, check the laptop's graphics card or integrated graphics capabilities. Most modern laptops support dual monitor setups. Look for the specific model of the graphics card or the integrated graphics chipset in your laptop.
  • Video Outputs: Inspect the laptop's video output ports. Common video outputs include HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, and VGA. Make sure you have two compatible video output ports to connect your external monitors.
  • Operating System: The operating system also plays a role. Both Windows and macOS support multiple monitors. In Windows, you can typically configure and extend your display to multiple monitors in the Display Settings. In macOS, you can do this through the Displays settings in the System Preferences.
  • Monitor Compatibility: Ensure that your external monitors are compatible with the video outputs on your laptop. If your laptop has HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, but your monitors only support VGA, you'll need adapters or monitors with compatible input ports.
  • Driver Support: Check if your laptop's graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause issues with multiple monitors.

Assuming your laptop supports dual monitors, here's how to set it up:

  • Connect one external monitor to one of the laptop's video output ports.
  • Connect the other external monitor to the second video output port.
  • Go to your operating system's display settings to configure how you want to use the monitors (extend, duplicate, etc.).
  • Adjust the display settings to your preferences.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
