Hi @jimmy0807
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to have brightness control issues after a graphics driver update. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem on your HP Victus laptop:
1. Check Windows Settings
- Go to Settings > System > Display. Make sure the brightness slider is visible and try adjusting it from there.
2. Reinstall Graphics Drivers
- Sometimes updates can cause issues. Uninstall the current AMD drivers:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click on the AMD Radeon RX 6500M and select Uninstall device. Check the box for "Delete the driver software for this device" if prompted.
- Restart your laptop, then download and install the latest drivers directly from the AMD website or use the AMD Auto-Detect Tool.
3. Check for Windows Updates
- Ensure your Windows is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
4. Adjust Power Settings
- Sometimes power settings can affect brightness controls. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and check your selected plan's settings.
5. Update BIOS
- Check if there’s a BIOS update available for your laptop model on the HP Support website. Sometimes BIOS updates can resolve hardware compatibility issues.
6. Reset Display Drivers
- Open Device Manager, right-click on your display adapter, and choose Disable device. Wait a few seconds, then right-click again and select Enable device.
7. Check Hotkeys
- Ensure that the function keys (like F2 and F3) for brightness control are functioning. Sometimes, they may require pressing the Fn key simultaneously.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
