HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2
macOS 12.0 Monterey

We have three USB-C/A Universal dock G2 at the office. On one of them no audio/video devices appears in our Macbooks with Macos 15.X . (M-series).

On the same dock it works fine for a PC. We have updated the Displaylink software to latest version, and we get the same macs working with the other docking stations.  Any ideas on what to troubleshoot?

Welcome to HP Support Community, @PatrikNorlander

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

1. Check Hardware Connections

Ensure all cables are firmly connected.

Reconnect the USB-C cable on both ends.

Try using a different USB-C port on the MacBook.

2. Confirm Dock Functionality

Since the dock works on a Windows PC, the hardware is functional.

Test the same dock with another MacBook.

This helps identify whether the issue is isolated to one MacBook.

3. Update macOS and Drivers

Make sure the MacBook is running the latest macOS version.

Update the DisplayLink Manager software to the newest release.

Check for compatibility notes for macOS 15.x and M-series processors on the DisplayLink website.

4. Verify DisplayLink Manager Status

Open DisplayLink Manager on the Mac.

Confirm that connected monitors/devices are being detected.

Check DisplayLink documentation for any known issues affecting your macOS version.

5. Power Cycle the Dock

Disconnect the dock from:

Power adapter

MacBook

All connected peripherals

Wait at least 10 seconds.

Reconnect the power and then connect it to the MacBook.

6. Reset SMC and NVRAM on the MacBook
SMC Reset

Shut down the MacBook.

Hold Shift + Control + Option + Power for 10 seconds.

Release all keys and power on the MacBook.

NVRAM Reset

Shut down the MacBook.

Turn it on and immediately hold Option + Command + P + R.

Keep holding for about 20 seconds.

Release the keys and allow the MacBook to reboot.

7. Test With Another Dock

Swap in another HP USB-C G2 dock known to be working with a Mac.

If the other dock works fine, the issue is likely with the original dock.

If the second dock also fails, the issue is likely with the MacBook configuration or OS compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
