I have an IO gear USB-C Triple Video Dock, and to get three external displays to work through the dock I have found the USB-C Port must have dp alt mode. Is there a setting I have to enable or a work around for this?

No, it is the hardware thing, port must have physical wire for direct device-to-host transmission of alternate data protocols.
