Envy Y0F94AV
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Envy Y0F94AV - Trying to connect a second external monitor using the USB-C Port to a USB-C capable monitor.  The Monitor has HDMI, Display Port, and USB-C inputs.  Purchased a USB-C to C cable but the monitor is not detected.  Tested monitor and cable using my phone and it works fine.  When connecting the cable a Display Port message displays briefly like it is installing a driver so wondering if purchasing a USB-C to Display Port cable would help?

Thanks,

I am new at this and thought adding the more generic laptop name would be helpful.

@SEA3 You may want to confirm if the USB Type-C support thunderbolt for it to work as an USB-C to USB-C video port, among others!

Please look for the below symbol on your device to confirm:

If you do not have the above thunderbolt symbol, you will need to make use of the display adapters: click here for details
(contains information on what is and isn't supported using the USB-Type C to Display port, etc)

Hi Riddle_Decipher,

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately, it is not a Thunderbolt port.  I looked a the link you provided but am not understanding what adapter could be used?

I purchased a USB-C to DisplayPort cable and plugin it in did not work either.

I have tried to fine the specs about the port for my Envy 17 but have not found them posted anywhere.

@SEA3

Thank you for posting back.

I did go through your post and see that the USB-C to Display cable is not working.

I would recommend you can try taking the system to the tech store or service center nearby in order to purchase the correct cable.

Keep me posted.
