HP ENVY x360 - m6-aq005dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Looking for detailed and accurate specifications for the USB-C interface on my notebook.  Specifically, I am trying to find out if it supports USB-C Alternate Mode Video Output, USB-C Power Delivery from a docking station and DisplayLink video.

I have seen conflicting responses on the forums and have yet to find any documentation listing the actual specifications for this, or any of the  HP ENVY x360 - m6 models.

I purchased an HP Docking Station that was recommended by HP Sales team and it wasn't even recognized by my notebook, so I returned it and am looking at other options.

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

As mentioned earlier, the docking station is incompatible,

And to answer your question, yes the USB-Type C only supports data transfers,

if you had a USB Type-C with Thunderbolt it would support video conversion as well.

If I have helped you resolve the issue,

Feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon

And Have a great day ahead!

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you want the USB Type-C port information,

I'd like to thank you for the detailed description of your concern,

as you have ensured I don't have to ask any more questions, that said, I'm afraid there are no Docking Stations sold for the HP x360 as there are none compatible as of now, that said, I recommend you return the docking station(if possible)

Also, for you specifications: Click here

(1 USB 3.0 (Type-C); 2 USB 3.0 (1 HP USB Boost)

Let me know how that pans out

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask any other queries as  well,

Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Your reply doesn't reallly answer my question, but based on your reply, is it safe to say that the USB-C interface only supports data transfers and nothing else?

I had asked for specs on the interface and all you told me is that my notebook has a USB-C interface, which I obviously already knew.

Thanks for clearing it up.  I knew that the HP Docking Station - that was specifically recommended by HP Sales for my model notebook, by the way - was incompatible,  but was hoping to find one that would be, which is why I was looking for specifics on the specs.  I have already returned the docking station.

Somewhat disappointing to have been so deliberately mislead by the HP Sales group on all four of the specific questions I had asked them, but I guess they are there to make sales, not sell things that actually work.  AND, I know that is not your fault, so will leave it alone.

Have a great day!

@EagleTRL57

Thank you for the update,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I'm glad I could contribute towards resolving the issue and finding the solution you were looking for.

Thanks for taking the time to let the community know about the solution you found,

You've been great to work with and it has been a genuine pleasure interacting with you.

That said, I'm sure HP thinks just as I do when it comes to sales, as I do not like when sales are made to satisfy the seller rather than the buyer, I will certainly have your feedback sent to the appropriate team to make a positive change, Thank you for that.

To simply say thanks for my efforts to assist you, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos.

And mark my post as Accepted Solution to help others find a similar solution as you have.

Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead. 🙂
