HP ENVY X360 Convertible 15mCN0011dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP ENVY x360 15in Notebook CN0011dx with a USB-C port as well as a traditional barrel style charging port. I recently bought a Lenovo T27P monitor with a USB-C port capable of power delivery at 75w. I have connected the two together however my laptop is not charging. I have already seen conflicting reports about whether this laptop can charge via USB-C. The laptop itself has a thunderbolt sign next to the USB-C port im assuming that means charging is an option.

EDIT: I borrowed my friend's USB-C charger for his macbook.

I was able to charge my laptop via USB-C using the apple branded USB-C and having it connected into the wall.

I was unable to charge via USB-C when connected to the Lenovo monitor using the apple USB-C.  the monitor actually went to sleep and didnt display any image from my laptop.

what could be happening here?

You can't use Apple USB-C charger to charge your HP machine:

The explanation is: they are NOT compatible.
