Elitebook 840 G8
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an external screen connected with a single USB-C wire. The screen also worked as a dock so it charged the notebook as well as being a USB-hub.

After using HP Support Assistant to update all the drivers for the notebook I can no longer use the display. It still charges the notebook but the display stays black saying it doesn't get any input.

The notebook is an Elitebook 840 G8.

This was fixed (after calling HP phone support) by unplugging the screen/dock and turning off the computer. When then computer is turned off, press and hold the mute button, in my case F5 and the power button simultaneously for 30 seconds. After that the screen worked when reconnected.
