My laptop model 15-ef2024nr can't seem to connect to the monitors on my USB C docking station. The laptop sees all other connected USB devices and the internet connection, but no displays work. These same monitors used to be connected to a USB 3-connected docking station with no problems, so i know everything works, My question is this laptop incapable of running displays over USB-C? If so, this will be a pain as I run my work laptop from this setup and I would now need to go back to my old docking station for my personal laptop. The docking station in question is a Dell Thunderbolt WD19TBS with all firmware and software updated. Thanks.

I can NOT find official specs from HP, only
https://www.adorama.com/ihp55h47uba.html
It ONLY has 1 hopeless SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only-total 3), you can use
- Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
- Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
In short : It is not compatible with USB-C docks.
Other option (USB-A dock) : https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05357751 (as you said, you can use USB-A dock)
