HP EliteBook 840 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Does HP EliteBook 840 G4 USB-C port support DisplayPort Alternate Mode?

Trying to connect to monitors via Hyperdrive ultimate 11-in-1 USB-C Hub, but it doesn't work.

Thanks

No the USB-C port is data only but it does have a built in DP port doesn't it?

Thanks for the reply Huffer,

As I said, I'm trying to use a USB-C Hub from Hyper Drive (https://www.hypershop.com/products/hyperdrive-ultimate-usb-c-hub-for-macbook-pc-usb-c-devices).

Tryied in another PC (more recent), and I can connect to two extra monitors (HDMI and VGA), just by connecting the HUB to a USB-C Port.

I believe this only works with USB-C ports that support USB 3.1 (Gen 2) and/or DisplayPort Alternate. Mode.

Just wanted to confirm if this is the case and my toughts are correct.

Thanks again.

Hi, hoping for some similiar clarification. So did you find that you cannot output any form of video/display via the USB-C/Thunderbolt port? Is it purely just data? If so it is really limiting that the only video output is HDMI...

Thanks for the clarification!

If we are talking about the 840 G4 it does have a mini-DP port built into the laptop according to the specs, not just HDMI.
