Hi,

I am currently trying to connect a second external monitor to my laptop.

I have the first monitor set up via the HMDI port. The second I am trying to connect via the USB Type-C port using a dongle. (This exact one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08HD7YL67)

Both monitors work fine, both HDMI cables work. I have a USB-C dongle which connects my USB devices but will not connect the monitor by the HDMI port it has.

I've double checked the product specifications  which states: "Power your device or connect to an external display from just one USB-C port with 5 Gb/s signalling rate. And it's reversible, so you never have to worry about plugging in upside down."

Appreciate any help or advice,

Many thanks

The specs of your machine is

      https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06391638

Its  USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port won't support video out using connections (direct, a dongle or a hub)

Regards.
