Hello I'm unable to extend the multiple monitor from my HP monitor, I'm using Plexgear Multiadapter för USB-C to extend the monitor but it doesn't respond anyway but it works for my lenovo laptop. Any idea what could be the issue ? or my HP laptop doesn't support for USB-C ?

Hi @SweKish,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with extending your display using a Plexgear USB-C multiadapter on your HP laptop, even though the setup works fine with your Lenovo laptop. There could be several reasons for this problem. Here are some steps and checks you can perform to diagnose and potentially solve the issue:

Check USB-C Compatibility:

  • Support for Display Output: Verify whether the USB-C port on your HP laptop supports video output. Not all USB-C ports support all functionalities (charging, data transfer, video output). You can usually find this information in your laptop's specificationsmulti-adapter or user manual.
  • Thunderbolt vs. USB-C: Determine if the port is standard USB-C or Thunderbolt, as Thunderbolt generally supports more features, including multiple displays.

Driver and Software Updates:

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that the graphics drivers and the USB-C port drivers on your HP laptop are up to date. Visit the HP support website, enter your laptop model, and download the latest drivers.
  • Firmware Updates: Check for any firmware updates for your Plexgear multiadapter if available.

Check Adapter Compatibility:

  • Laptop Compatibility: Some multiadapters may have specific compatibility requirements or may function differently with different brands or models of laptops. Check if there are any known compatibility issues with HP laptops and your specific model of the Plexgear adapter.

Monitor Setup:

  • Display Settings: On your HP laptop, go to Display Settings (you can search for it in the Windows Start menu). Ensure that the monitor is detected when connected. Try manually detecting the monitor by clicking "Detect" in the display settings.
  • Extend vs. Mirror: Make sure you have selected "Extend these displays" rather than "Duplicate these displays," which can sometimes be the default setting.

Cable and Connection Check:

  • Cable Integrity: Test the USB-C cable and the adapter with another device to ensure there are no issues with the cable or adapter itself.
  • Connection Check: Make sure the connection is secure and stable at both the laptop and the monitor ends. Loose connections can cause the display not to be extended properly.

Alternate Display Modes:

  • If possible, test with a different monitor to ensure that the issue is not with the monitor itself.
  • Try using a different adapter or cable setup that is confirmed to work with your HP laptop to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
