Hello!
HP Laptop details --
Product Name: HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ac0XX
Product Number: Y4P52AV
The HP laptop has the following ports --
- USB Type-C power connector and Thunderbolt ports (2)
- USB 3.x port with HP Sleep and Charge
I am trying to connect a Philips 346B1C monitor to this HP laptop using the supplied USB-C cable from Philips.
When I connect the monitor using USB-C port, the monitor shows a message that there is no Video input or signal.
In the laptop settings, I am unable to detect the external monitor either.
I was able to connect the same monitor with the same USB-C supplied cable to Microsoft Surface laptop via the USB-C port.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
Appreciate all your help!
thank you,
TheCipher5

I also have the Philips 346B1C Thunderbolt monitor, and am having the same issues trying to connect the HP laptop to it.
HP Laptop Details:
Product name: HP Zbook Studio X360 G5
Product number: 2YS50AV
The screen works on an Intel Skyllcanyon NUC NUC6i7KYK, and on a Surface Laptop. The HP laptop has been shown working with the HP Thunderbolt Dock G3 (display and charging), but so far this laptop with this screen seems to not work.
I've tried switching the cable around, I've updated the bios, updated the Thunderbolt firmware, disabled Thunderbolt security/authentication in the HP bios, updated Thunderbolt drivers. [EDIT] Also I've already updated windows and installed all driver updates through the HP Support Assistant.
The Thunderbolt application shows the two Thunderbolt ports on the laptop, but it does not even detect the presence of the screen when it is connected. When I connect the screen, initially I see some activity in device manager (refreshing - indicating new hardware is being detected), but after <10 seconds, it seems the HP laptop drops the USB port the screen is on altogether (it doesn't show up in device manager anymore until you unplug the screen).
Very dissapointing so far.

Welcome to HP Community
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

I had already updated windows, and had already installed the HP Support Assistant and updated all the drivers as this was a suggested solution elsewhere. I forgot to mention this in my previous post. My previous post was written after already having done those things, they did not help whatsoever.

Hello KrazyToad,
My laptop has been updated with the latest software and drivers and I am still unable to connect the Philips monitor to the charging port on the laptop and get video output at the same time.
-- I can get video signal from non-charging USB-C port on the laptop
-- I can charge the laptop through the USB-C charging port on the laptop by the monitor but cannot get video signal at the same time
As per the laptop manual --
Type-C ports—
(2) USB 3.1 Gen 2 with Thunderbolt™ Gen 3 technology
All ports support data transfer, power delivery, and DisplayPort 1.2 out up to 3840 × 2160 at 60 Hz
From Philips --
This Philips display features a built-in USB type-C docking station with power delivery of up to 90W. Its slim, reversible USB-C connector allows for easy, one-cable docking. Simplify by connecting all your peripherals like keyboard, mouse and your RJ-45 Ethernet cable to the monitor's docking station. Simply connect your notebook and this monitor with a single USB-C cable to watch high-resolution video and transfer super-speed data, while powering up and re-charging your notebook at the same time.
Can you advise what could be the issue and a solution?
thank you,
TheCipher5
