I have an HP Spectre and am trying to use an additional 2 monitors. I have a hub with VGA and HDMI and Display port options. I have 2 screens and all possible adapters but only one screen will work at a time. Is there a way to have 3 screens working at once - i.e. laptop and both additional monitors?

Hi @MojitoMary,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect two additional monitors to your HP Spectre, you can use the available ports on your laptop and the hub. Here's a step-by-step guide.

  • Check the available ports on your HP Spectre: Look for the available video output ports on your laptop. HP Spectre models typically come with a combination of HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports.
  • Identify the ports on the hub: Determine which ports are available on your hub. You mentioned that your hub has VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort options, so ensure that your monitors are compatible with one or more of these ports.
  • Connect the first monitor: Use an appropriate cable (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA) to connect your first monitor to the corresponding port on the hub. If you're using an adapter, ensure it matches the ports on both the monitor and the hub.
  • Connect the hub to your HP Spectre: Connect the hub to your laptop using the appropriate cable or adapter. If your laptop has a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C port, you may need to use a compatible cable or adapter to connect it to the hub.
  • Configure display settings: Once the first monitor is connected, your laptop should recognize it. Right-click on your desktop and select "Display settings" (or similar) to configure the display settings. In the display settings, you can choose how you want the multiple monitors to extend or duplicate your desktop.
  • Connect the second monitor: Use another cable (matching the available ports on the hub and the monitor) to connect the second monitor to the hub.
  • Configure display settings for the second monitor: After connecting the second monitor, go back to the display settings and configure the layout, resolution, and orientation of the second monitor according to your preference.
  • Test the setup: Once both monitors are connected and configured, test your setup by moving windows between the different monitors to ensure they are working correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
