@Mad_2804, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry you're facing this issue with your new HP laptop. A vertical line on the screen, especially on a brand-new device can be concerning.
Here's what you can do right away:

Restart the Laptop: Sometimes a simple reboot can clear up display glitches.

Check for External Display:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV.
  • If the line does not appear on the external display, the issue is likely with the laptop screen itself.
  • If the line does appear, it could be a graphics card or driver issue.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters.
  • Right-click your graphics card and select Update driver.
  • Or visit the HP Support site to download the latest drivers.

Run HP Diagnostics:

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Display Test to check for hardware issues.

Check for Physical Damage:

  • If the laptop was dropped or pressed hard, the screen might be physically damaged.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
